How To Know If SEO Is Done Correctly & Track SEO Progress

Track SEO Progress

We all know that a business needs a website. Making sure that your website is found high in the Google rankings is also crucial.

The first part has gotten easier over time. However, many people struggle when it comes to getting their website to show up first on Google search. That’s why you hire professionals.

Anyone can tell you that they’re good at something but you wouldn’t trust an accountant with your books before looking at the ins and outs. So, don’t turn a blind eye to the money you’re spending on external SEO marketing services either. Do your research.

How To Track SEO Progress

The main goal of SEO is to make your website as appealing as possible to Google. As an Irish company, we’ve helped many small businesses rank highly on Google for their target keywords in the right location. We also feel that a big part of this service is educating our clients and encouraging as many questions as possible.

We send monthly reports that break down the progress of our technical SEO work, what we have done, where you are ranking, the improvements made, and the next steps. You can read more about SEO on our blog

You can track your SEO progress by looking out for these three signs:

1. Search on Google For What You Offer

It may sound simple but nothing works better. If you own a restaurant in Dublin and google “restaurant Dublin,” you may not show up on the first page, and that’s ok. It’s pretty hard to show up as the top dog for such a broad search term.

Now, if you’re a French restaurant in Dublin, that’s a different story. You should be able to search “French restaurant Dublin,” and see yourself near the top.

Don’t see your business? Your SEO is not performing properly. If it was, a niche term like the one you just searched would present itself somewhere on the first page.

2. H1 & H2 Headings

Another sign that your SEO is not done properly is if your target keywords do not appear throughout the main headings on your website. These headings play a big role in how Google assesses your website so if the keywords aren’t there, you may get penalised and pushed further down the rankings.

Remember, SEO is not just a technical term, it is made up of front-end content (the part humans read) just as much as back-end content (the part Google reads). You can learn more about it on our blog; Why a website with no SEO or keywords is hurting your business.

3. Keywords

The bread and butter of every SEO strategy? Keywords. We often get asked questions like; ‘How long does it take for SEO to work?’ Or ‘What on-site SEO elements influence search results?”

The most important thing to think of when asking these types of questions is, ‘are the right keywords in place?’ Without them, what would usually take 4-6 months to get you to the top of Google search, might never happen.

If you have strong keywords, you’re halfway there. For instance, if you’re in a competitive industry you need to knuckle down and target highly competitive keywords. You can go to Google now, type in your domain and check the keywords on your website. Are they relevant to your business? Do you know what you’re looking for?

To get the best SEO results whether your business is broad or niche, it pays to ask a professional for help. This doesn’t mean you have to invest in a brand-new site. If you love the look of your site but your Google ranking dropped dramatically in recent months, we can fix that. We always send monthly reports so you can track your SEO progress. We believe in transparency.

At Mamma Marketing we offer a three-stage process, stage one being all about the quick fixes and getting your SEO sorted. We show you how to track SEO progress and how to measure SEO performance.

This is a cost-effective way to manage your website’s SEO and you’ll get to see consistent results in our monthly reports.
